The handler will not initiate a TASK REDUCTION until the dog has been secured, if at all, by the ERT. A TASK REDUCTION is a training program provided by the Department of Animal Services to increase handler safety and promote safety for all individuals on-scene. It includes: The training of handlers that instruct on the techniques and behaviors to use when handling and handling dogs; The training of ERT personnel. The ERT will attempt to assist in rescuing any dog that displays aggression in its presence (aggressive behavior toward handlers) and will use a TASK REDUCTION to safely remove the aggressive dog to a safety area. 7.
