They were given a very detailed briefing on the new program, followed by a one on one personal interview with the program director. This allowed students to better identify what they were interested in and why. The second group of students started arriving on June 2nd. These were students who had previously applied through two online portals — The NEAR program and UCAR. Once they had completed their application and were contacted by the program director, they were allowed to sit down and speak with an individual. In the first interview, the students were given extensive information about the programs options, what it was like to apply and meet the program director. During these meetings the program director emphasized many times over his experiences of starting the program in 2007 and to the point, the new program is completely redesigned. Students have a lot more flexibility compared to 2007 and there are a host of student groups of varying size such as small business owners, students looking to be entrepreneurs, or students looking to create a business from scratch. From Left: Will Bloomsbury, Andrea Christensen, Jacquelyn Top, Wesley Smith, Christopher Slocum, and Justin Crosscheck. PHASE B Summer 2014 Internships will begin at the beginning of August 2014 and run through the end of the summer. This time frame is for students to get used to life in Colorado and will hopefully provide an insight into what the program would be like during the actual summer and how far students would be taken by the opportunities that are offered. Program Coordinator will have four roles; 1. Summer intern: We will provide the program coordinator with the students contact information and a list of questions needed to get the most out of the internship. As a rule we ask that students not send us personal information. 2. Program coordinator: The program coordinator will be the link between the students and the program director. Program coordinator will work with the students to make the most use of their summer internships and the opportunities they might get through the program. 3. Academic Intern: This position will also be the intern for the internship and is responsible for coordinating the school year as well as making sure the interns are in school and meet requirements for their programs. 4. Financial Aid/Coupon Intern.
