Dartmouth College, located in Hanover, New Hampshire receives 14.5 million in grant-in-aid annually from the United States government, through Federal Family Education Loan Program (FF ELP). The grant-in-aid program provides financial assistance  to academically qualified individuals (A.G.O's) who were either enrolled or withdrew from an eligible institution (as determined by the Commission on Postsecondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education at the time) in a graduate degree program during the 1996-97 school year. The following Dartmouth employees were eligible to participate in the grant-in-aid program: A.G.O.s who completed the following courses; in alphabetical order: The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration The Graduate Certificate in Clinical/Professional Clinical Training The Graduate Certificate in Clinical/Professional Clinical Training & Counseling The Graduate Certificate in Clinical/Personal Clinical Training (not completed) The Graduate Certificate in Clinical/Personal Clinical Training & Counseling (not completed) P.T.L.Y — Ph.D. (All courses in alphabetical order) Dartmouth College provides a variety of programs and courses for A.G.O's to earn graduate degree certification, and to encourage their continued participation in graduate programs. These courses are also considered educational programs, and thus qualify for grant-in-aid benefit eligibility. Dartmouth College provides a variety of other benefits to eligible A.G.O.'s in academic and professional graduate programs to encourage continued participation in such programs, including reimbursement for a significant portion of costs of attendance (see the chart below) on a subsidized tuition basis. This benefit is applicable to courses complemented by graduate coursework for graduate A.G.O.'s taking courses for the purpose of obtaining graduate degrees (the courses may be completed for a B.A., B.S., J.D., PhD, or M.A. degrees). This benefit will be taxable as additional compensation to the employees in the same manner as would be receivable if the courses in question were taken for pay.
