Final Report of the Office of the Registrar ADV CONS A4. Follow-up on the P&T Working Group, Report on Selection Process and Recommendations on Admissions Adv CONS A5. Implementation of “The First Year Course” Proposal to create a “first year course” with the objective of attracting students from the Faculty who will later graduate from other universities. In addition to the above, on September 14, 2006, Dean Branden submitted a revised Task Force on Faculty Development in its final report to the Dean of the Faculty: Proposal to develop a faculty development strategy; and Recommendation that the Committee on Faculty Development continue to engage with departments on faculty development initiatives so that the Committee will be better positioned to make recommendation to the Dean on Faculty Development Program plans. This report was submitted to the Dean of the Faculty on October 2nd, 2006. On October 11, 2006, Dean of the Faculty Deborah Unlike sent a memo and follow up to Dr. H.P. “Peggy” Deakin (Director of Academic Affairs) that reads as follows: The Committee on Faculty Development did a review of their work. They have not been able to find any faculty development activities that were actually carried out to date. They need to be doing better to develop the resources they need so they can continue to help our Faculty. She adds: We do agree that continuing to engage with colleagues at the universities on faculty development issues is critical to their overall success. On October 2, 2006, Dr. W.H. “Peggy” Deakin, Director of Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Education, wrote a separate memo to the dean of the Faculty of Education that reads as follows: On a variety of issues, however, we should be doing a better job of supporting the Faculty of Education in developing a long-term plan. This is very important for the Faculty of Education to be able to support the Department of Education at the same time in building a more effective relationship with the departments. In February 2007, Dean Branden submitted a revised Task Force on Faculty Development in its final report to the Dean of the Faculty: Proposal to expand the Faculty Development Center to include faculty development workshops and seminars for professional development of faculty and student development. The Committee recommended that some of these activities be combined with the current professional development services provided by the Faculty Development Center and added services at the Faculty Development Center.
