Sick Leave Hours Required: Leave on the dates listed is subject to approval. It may be less or more than the total hours required from previous years. No more than one annual leave can be granted in the same calendar year (except for sick leave), and not more than two annual leaves in one calendar year (including sick leave, annual leave and leave for family reasons). The employee is eligible for leave on the date of his or her leave. Family Leave (Loops) is provided if necessary to comply with local state or federal laws and regulations which restrict the employee from his or her regular work status for a medical or personal medical reason. For example, if a university requires full-time employees to remain on call throughout the day and nights to prevent an employee from developing a serious illness, the employee is no longer able to work as an employee of the university and must be granted an administrative leave during which time he or she is not being paid his or her salary. The family leave must be taken on the workday or the next scheduled day after the employee's illness has been diagnosed. The amount of a family leave for medical or personal reasons is the same as for medical leave for a personal reason. The employee must submit an Employee Health Insurance (EX) application for every leave requested by the university. In general, the cost of EX will not be recovered from the employee. However, the employee will be responsible for providing documentation from his or her doctor regarding the cost per day, and the employer must make a good faith effort to review the documentation provided to determine whether it is sufficient.
