At the end of January 2010 these bonds are priced at 5.0% and due in 2035. The bonds are to mature on 2035 with a fixed coupon interest due on 31 March 2035 and a variable interest rate of 5.1% at maturity. WHS shares are currently trading around 15-16.5x our earnings. If the markets continue to recover well for WHS, then this would give these bonds the potential to generate a return of over 2% to the investor before taxes. We are providing a 30-day discount in accordance with our standard discount policies. This ensures that investors are not required to take a position without being familiar with our business model and the key risks and uncertainties which may be involved. The price is based on the current market value of WHS and current discounted future cash flow of the company. Should the company fail to achieve growth and earnings levels, this discount could revert to the book value of WHS. Please click here for the full press release. News We have just released our first client portfolio, which was recently used by the Kiwi Fund to invest into New Zealand businesses owned by foreign firms. It seems that people are still buying our products, though the number of businesses is in decline. The client portfolio is the work of the investment committee, which is led by me and has a range of investment objectives. However, the key focus is that it is investment as an investment, and based on the client's view of what they would want to get from the company and business (or companies) to invest in them. The aim is to create portfolio of companies at high risk/benefit levels which may be purchased as investments. However, it may be that many are “too risky” to buy on a one-off basis. As such, it may be worthwhile to review the portfolio as a whole, to ensure that the investments are appropriate for individual clients. This review exercise is designed to ensure that the portfolio is still a good investment, despite the current low market prices. We are currently targeting an average annualized return of 7.5%-8% on the NZ equity side, and 8.5%-10% on the NZ bonds side. This equates to an average annualized return of 12-15% total. So, overall it may require a minimum investment of ~200,000 at 7% (or 8% bond) annualized returns, if we want to achieve our targets.
