It is required by City by-law that we inform our citizens of the permits which are available to them with the use of the
Appendix in Appendix A. Please note also that any person who requires a special permit from City Council must also
apply for it and follow our by-law.
Section 17.1 — Permit Application
· A. A person must obtain a permit from City Engineer in writing to cut or change leaves in a tree. The
permit application must include the following information:
· A photograph of the tree which the leaf(s) to be cut on is to be cut on.
· The date on which the leaf is to be cut.
· The quantity of leaves to be cut and the date they are to be cut.
· The name and address of the site on which the tree will be cut.
· A statement from the person, firm or corporation authorizing the cut to be done, and the type of work intended.
· An application fee, as set out in the Schedule that is attached to this By-law.
B. No person shall cut and/or remove the leaves from any tree without obtaining a permit from City of Brampton. Permit
requirements may include that the person providing the leaf cut must be a permitted of trees (including by having a
permit issued through the By-law Program) and that the application be forwarded to the appropriate City Engineer. The
person cutting the leaf(s) must be on the land that will be affected by the leaf cut (i.e. land that may be adjacent to the
tree, or adjoining to the tree).
C. The City Engineer will issue a permit if all requirements of this section of the By-law have been met.
