Medical expenses. Enter the total amount. If you are only reporting one expense (e.g., you were reimbursed for medical expenses), enter the total amount on line 31. Enter the expenses from the start of your business after you file your return or the date you last reported your expenses, whichever is earliest. If you are reporting more than one expense, you may include separate lines for each expense. For example, you may enter “Medical, dental x-rays, and vision expenses” on line 31, “Fees for insurance coverage and Medicare expenses” and “Travel expenses, meals, and entertainment” from line 32. Only the amount reported in “Expenses” column on line 32 should be reported on line 31. Enter amounts reported separately from line 31 on line 32. Enter expenses from line 19 and line 20 on line 33. (The expenses are for: (1) A building to house the business and provide necessary equipment, furniture, supplies, training, and facilities, as described in section 4(c)(2)(A) of the Act. (2) The employees' wages, including fringe benefits, if they were paid from the business. (3) A facility you used in or for the business (or both) that is a separate item from the business premises where the business is conducted (or from the premises where you receive income from the business if the building or facilities are part of or a component of your business); and not the subject of a separate transaction, such as a rental, lease, or sublease, where a separate item is considered a separate transaction. Include the cost of the facility on line 21 (if you are reporting the expense as a depreciable asset) or 28 (if the facility would be a depreciable asset) of Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ. Enter your deduction for the facility on line 27 (if you are reporting the expense as a capital expense); the amount you deducted under section 168.50(i)(4)(B) for the expense on line 29. If you entered the amount on line 33, calculate the interest you paid on the deduction using the interest method as discussed in Pub. 501. Under section 168.50(j)(1), the interest is not deductible. For more information and the interest method rules, see section 1.168D-1(r). Enter “General” in the Amount column.
