The Program is a joint initiative between EMD (France) and the University of Liege (Belgium). It is aimed at researchers working in Europe and South-Eastern Asia, as well as practitioners and researchers in the field of Global Governance, who want to contribute to the field of sustainable development by studying, inter alia of the following topics : — Global Governance, with the focus on the European Union, and in particular the European Commission; — Multilateralism; — Environmental Governance; — Social Science; — Science & Technology Policy. An academic staff of ten persons will be available to support the participants in the work. The Program Coordinator and five Coordinators are expected to participate in the work as well, along with five researchers from EMD and five research assistants from ULB. We invite applicants to submit one or more of the following proposals : — Research Project The research program of this program should involve a study or research project designed with the aim of generating a more detailed understanding of the relationship between the global political economy, the European Union, and the multilateral system, especially its institutional evolution. The applicant shall be allowed to pursue his research topic independently, and the supervisor(s) as well as the two constitutional research groups (one from EMD, one from ULB) will be expected to contribute to the research, either by providing guidance in the development of a research topic or the establishment of the research field. The research project should be able to take a quantitative approach, without excessive involvement of the supervisors. The proposal must be submitted in French, English, German, Italian, or Spanish. An initial proposal must be submitted via the online portal of the consortium. The results of the application for financial support to the program director will be communicated through the contact information mentioned above (e-mail, Skype, etc.) The work and the results of the work performed must be clearly defined in the proposal to avoid any ambiguity when communicating the results. The successful candidates will have, for the last three years, taken primary responsibility, as a member of their research group, for conducting a research project. The supervisor will evaluate each member of his group, including himself (in his capacity to do so), to establish which research topic is the most important to the research group and, in addition, to evaluate the ability of each member of his group to organize the group effectively, thus developing a common work routine and keeping the research group moving forward.
