Author: Johannes Tex is the inventor of the DAG data analysis technique and author of several textbooks on the subject of epidemiology and the control of diseases. His new book, Dags in Practice, is published from Springer-Verlag. In this book Tex presents the DAG analysis of a large set of data, ranging from the size of a large pox epidemic to the epidemiology of smoking, as well as a more extensive treatment of the subject in a much broader context. For over fifty years Tex has been the main authority on Dags, and he discusses his findings in depth and systematically, taking the latest work by many collaborators into account. With his unique perspective he explains Dags practically, with clear illustrations. He explains the underlying theory in as transparent language as possible and shows the practical applications that follow from this interpretation. Finally, Tex explains methods used to test the correctness of theoretical principles and their accuracy in practice, offering some useful advice and suggestions. He also provides references for the reader. The book is an excellent introduction to the most important advances in the field of epidemiology in recent decades and serves as a valuable companion to any undergraduate or professional statistics course.
