He was an outstanding collegiate wrestler prior to college going undefeated in the NCAA Tournament. He has worked extensively with all the divisions and divisions of amateur wrestling. It had never been his intention to pursue a coaching career, however, he believes the work ethic of wrestlers today is lacking and his unique style will help develop an all-around wrestling experience the community desires.
He also has the ability to teach you the fundamentals of wrestling. In fact, not only has he won the Eastern Wrestling League Coach of the Year title, he has won a number of championships in both youth and high school, including the 2014 National Youth Wrestler of the Year title. At 18 years-old, Bonobo and his partner, Chris Ruhrhuber, set a world record in a double-elimination tournament at the 2012 American Wrestling Coaches Association National Junior Championship. The result of their effort is a picture of both the skillful wrestling Bonobo performs against all competitors and the dedication they have to the sport.
Bonobo has spent the last 14 years living in Hawaii where he was the head coach at Wait High School from 2. The team he built to the title of State Championship Class B State Wrestler, and the team of athletes they defeated to earn the title, set records. Bonobo was a five-time Division 1 All American at Wait High School, and has continued to compete at State Championships and Super Six. He attended North Central High in Dallas Texas and the University of Texas.
For his efforts over the years, he was promoted to Team Coach of the Year at North Central High School in Dallas, Texas, and the USA Today newspaper listed him in their “50 Most Influential High School Wrestlers in America”
From 2011 through 2014, he ran a successful pro wrestling school out of his home in Hawaii called The Hawaii Wrestling Connection. The school, created as a way to develop young wrestlers into professionals, had many wrestlers who were already on TV as champions and other future WWE stars. Many of his students went on to wrestle professionally in the WWE, NOT, Ring of Honor and other organizations.
In 2009, he was invited as a guest to the World Wrestling Entertainment “Ring of Honor World Championships” at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.
He has many hobbies including kayaking, mountain biking and traveling.
