This Parcel Tax Exemption is only available for contiguous parcels located in the same Unified School District. The two (2) most recent tax years are determined based on assessment data submitted by the property owner. Each parcel assessed for land tax should identify the parcel tax year in which it was owned by the property owner. The Unified Tax office will provide the parcel owner, either online or, if a physical address is requested, the parcel address as stated on the land tax return and in the parcel tax bill. The parcel will be assessed by the Unified Tax office under the Measure A Parcel Tax for the parcel year of the land tax return. The parcel will be exempt for the parcel tax year of the parcel tax bill. The parcel owner must register for the property tax exemption and provide proof of the land tax exemption by completing the Parcel Tax Exemption Application, and submitting this form to the Unified Tax office, by mail, fax or email. If the parcel is owned entirely by a joint tenancy with the parcel owner's interest in another unit of the same property and only one unit is assessed for the land tax as indicated in the parcel tax bill, the Parcel Tax Exemption will only apply to that unit. The parcel owner must register for the property tax exemption and provide proof of the property tax exemption by completing the Parcel Tax Exemption Application, and submitting this form to the Unified Tax office, by mail, fax or email. Proof of the property tax exemption must be submitted with the Parcel Tax Exemption Application. The parcel owner will be asked to submit a Parcel Tax Exemption Certification (Form 907) for each parcel under his/her ownership and control. The certification must be provided by (a) the owner of the parcel, or (b) an agent designated in writing by the owner, signed by both the owner and the agent. The owner and agent must also provide a copy of the property tax bill and parcel tax return for the unit of property on which the parcel is located for the property tax year in which the tax exemption was claimed under Parcel Tax Exemption Program.
