All learning begins inside and continues outside with individual sessions and with in-person individual learning with the help of an individualized curriculum and program of assessment. In the classroom, you learn how to think and do. The classroom curriculum and a series of written workbooks (called “mind moves”) are provided to supplement classroom instruction, as are a selection of tools for developing cognitive, problem-solving and social cognitive skills that will help you become a productive member of your community. What to Expect: You can expect to become a “thinking person” with a “critical and effective mind” and a “knowledge machine” when you take this course and participate in a small community of other students with learning disabilities in this area. The community is led by an adult and contains people from many other backgrounds; it is a place where you can have fun, learn something new and stay in touch with your community's learning disability residents. If you do this, we will consider helping you to continue your educational experience at your institution without charge. In some cases it may even be useful for your institution to make arrangements for you to finish your bachelor degree at home or at an alternative location. Students in this community work at all levels with peers who want to learn something. Many will finish their education at their own institutions within a few years and return to the community to work full time. Level III: INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTION FOR LEARNING DEVELOPMENT TEACHING INCLUSION AND ACCESS Mission: To create and support organizations that develop models that allow and promote individual and social inclusion and inclusion for those with learning disabilities. Method: We focus on training professionals to work in a culturally conscious, inclusive manner. What to Expect: You will be part of a community of other people with learning disabilities, who share your values of inclusion and personal freedom. We meet with you once a week to share perspectives, share skills, and meet with new people and their families. You will explore issues related to life challenges, and, in some cases, your college/university career/career opportunities. Level IV — INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTION FOR LEARNING DEVELOPMENT TEACHING COMMUNITY ACTION Mission: To improve access and opportunities for people with learning disabilities in their communities.
