Candidates should have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship is renewable for a second academic year. The committee will notify the scholarship recipient of the award upon completion of their first year. To be considered, a student must submit a letter of intent from his or her high school head teacher (i.e. the principal or superintendent) addressing the scholarship, the student's academic achievement, and his or her plans to pursue or complete a higher education, by January 1. The scholarship recipients are responsible for maintaining their scholarship during their senior year in high school. Students may obtain an application to use at the school of choice or any other designated college or university of their choice during the spring semester of their senior year. They are asked to attach a copy of the scholarship application to their high school graduation, senior picture book and/or a letter of recommendation from their counselor. This scholarship cannot be utilized if the student is participating in a national study of college acceptance rates for high school seniors. This scholarship may not be exchanged for any other grant, scholarship, or payment. The annual award will be 750.00 to a student enrolled in a full time program offered by a public or private secondary or post secondary school in Douglas County. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, up to and including the first day of classes in May. Scholarship Award. Lawrence Memorial Foundation's Annual Gift to the Women and Infants Hospital-Lubberscote Fund Scholarship The scholarship program provides financial aid to women attending high school in Lawrence and surrounding areas. The scholarship is available to high school seniors who are in the ninth through twelfth grades and who have demonstrated potential leadership, involvement, or a future career in health-related fields of interest while also being women. Prospective students must currently be enrolled or enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a recognized health profession, vocational, or technical school or college as defined by the federal government. The scholarship committee will review all written applications and provide awards of the following prizes: 1,500 per year (plus tuition) for a four-year degree. 2,000 per year (plus tuition) for an 8-year degree 3,000 per year (plus tuition) for an 11-year degree for an individual student who is female and who possesses strong academic and personal qualities. Awards will be awarded to the primary scholarship applicant only.
