02.2009 The award will be bestowed during the Weltleitmesse f r Bioproduct World Organic Trade Fair in November 2008 at the International Organic Expo in Hanover, Germany. (O1) The olive oil bar (O2), an optional component of the prize scheme, will be awarded for a product that has the following characteristics, which are required to be shown on the marketing information, the product certificate and in the application for participation in the Olive Oil Bar. The product should contain one hundred percent oil from the dried fruit or other edible fruit of the olive family; must be prepared as a bar rather than used in cooking or baking; and, of course must be accompanied by a certificate. The first prize, Olive Oil Pass (O2), should be for samples of products containing a total of at least 40 kg (95 lbs) per ton of oil, or more, except the olive oil bar (O1). The second prize for samples containing at least 30 kg (64 lbs) per ton of oil should be awarded to samples containing a total of at least 40 kg (95 lbs) of olive oil per ton of oil. The third prize for samples containing at least 30 kg (64 lbs) of olive oil per ton of oil must be awarded to products with a total of at least 40 kg (95 lbs) of olive oil per ton of oil. The prize shall be awarded to products containing less than 30 kg (64 lbs) of olive oil per ton of oil if the total of at least 80 kg (176 lbs) per ton of oil of that crop is also shown in the marketing information, the product certificate and in the application for participation in the Olive Oil Bar. The product must have the following characteristics listed in the application for participation in the Olive Oil Bar inclusive Olive Oil Award: — the product must be of a standard shape and size, and — the finished product must be of a uniform appearance and high quality, which can be easily observed by the consumer, the quality of the olive oil used must not be questionable, and — the product must be of suitable quality for personal or household use. The production period of the Olive Oil Pass (O2) prize shall be at least two years from the date of production of the finished product by the producer concerned.
