The R35 is a one-day license issued by the CSA governing body, to be used in that single day, at any registered event in South Africa. Once you have purchased your R35 (or if you have not done so yet, you have until 1 January to buy a license) you will be able to buy you ticket to every event that you want to participate in, as well as for any CSA events you would like to hold. You will not need to purchase a separate cycling license to be able to do so. It is advisable that you make sure that all other participants purchase a CSA event license, so that you do not be surprised when other members arrive late to a licensed event, as this is not permitted. You can also buy a CSA event license by e-mailing your request to: cycling South Africa You will have to state your reason for not purchasing a regular cycling license (as we already explain below). As soon as you have completed and received all the information mentioned above, the CSA governing body will issue you a cycling license in a week or two (and send the permit to your home) and you will be able to take your first step to participating. What does the R35 license cost: a. To apply for a R35 you will need to provide proof of having already been licensed as a member of the R15, CSA or any cycling club/incumbent. This includes the following: a. Photo ID that shows your current address b. Medical certificate or a letter confirming that you have no medical problems (this includes HIV) c. Your bicycle, registration and helmet. Db
b. Tourist visa If you plan to participate in road cycling events in South Africa, you must obtain a tourist visa, if you plan from a specific date onwards. You should apply to the SA Immigration office to issue or renew a tourist visa. Tourist visas are available from any immigration office.
