PART I PREAMBLE The State Electricity Board has as its mission to protect the public money by controlling and regulating the supply of electricity and the supply of electricity to the public. The Board has as its duty the investigation, control and regulation of all persons engaged in the supply of electricity and of the supply and installation of public works and public works undertaking. The Board, in accordance with the provisions of the Consumers Protection Act, 1950, has power to make rules for ensuring that the supply of electricity is regulated reasonably and for ensuring that the supplies of electricity are reasonably safe, secure and reliable. Power is also vested in the Board to provide assistance to the public by the provision of technical assistance and technical advice and the Board may give information or assistance in any way to its own members or other State Government and its departments, officers and agencies in connection with the performance of their duties and to promote the general welfare of the public. The Power to provide advice and assistance is vested in the State Government by Section 8 of the consumers' protection Act.
