The Diary survey collects survey data on expenditures for food, housing, clothing and services, transportation, and recreation, and the ESPN files contain data on expenditures for entertainment and recreation (such as theater, sports & recreation, and entertainment & recreation). The tabulations produced by the bureau are based on the interview data. The ESPN files are not based on interviews, and therefore are not available in the microdata. The Bureau of Labor Statistics makes it easy to create your own CD-ROM containing your own data and is able to send your creation to the bureau, but it is a courtesy request so that the bureau will not charge you an administrative fee. Please send this request via mail to BLS Reference, U.S. Department of Labor, P.O. Box 17500, St. Louis, MO 63 or send it by fax to (see the full fax number listed on the form). This request must complete and include the following information: Name, address, and date at which the CD-ROM was ordered; Description of the data to be produced on the CD-ROM (e.g., the data include total expenditures for specific categories of goods and services or the total annual consumer expenditures for one specific month); Name of the person or organization that produced the data; The name and address of the agency responsible for producing the microdata and the name and address of the person requesting their creation. See a Sample Table of Contents Here To obtain or download survey questionnaire data and microdata files (CD-ROM files) (for example, questionnaires, daily account files, and microdata files) for any survey conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, you may contact BLS Reference by clicking here. The data you request may be for surveys and information for particular months or years in which the surveys were conducted. These data may be provided in a variety of media, including a CD-ROM, spreadsheet files, and by electronic means. Most of the data are available for download at no charge, except for data which are not available and in which case they are published for the public. CD-ROMs of questionnaires for some surveys, such as employment insurance surveys, are available on the Bureau of Labor Statistics Website. These CD-ROMs are produced according to standard production techniques. (1) For information about specific survey items and their microdata, please see the sample tables for the year indicated.
