Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE; TABLE OF CONTENTS. (a) Short Title.--This Act may be cited as the ``Operation Hero Miles'' Act. (b) Table of Contents.--The table of contents for this Act is as follows: Sec. 1. Short title; table of contents. TITLE I--PROVIDED ACCESS TO HOUSING SEC. 101. HOUSING ACT OF 1991 REQUIREMENTS FOR PUBLIC AND UNFAMILIAR FACILITIES. (a) General Rule.--Section 504 of the Housing Act of 1949 (42 U.S.C. 1454a) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: ``(h) Public and Unfamiliar Facilities.-- ``(1) In general.--If there is a public or unfamiliar facility in a public housing development that is used for the storage or distribution of hazardous materials for the residential use of the tenants, the Secretary of the Department in which the project in which such facility is located may require the owner of such project to transfer such facilities to the Secretary of the Department in which such project is located or otherwise provide alternative housing for such tenants unless the owners, in writing, certify that they will not sell or otherwise dispose of such facilities. ``(2) Exception.--In no case shall any owner of any public housing project, that is located in a metropolitan statistical area, be required at the request of the Secretary of a Department in which the project is located under paragraph (1) to transfer any of its public or unfamiliar facilities to the Secretary of more than 1 such Department.''; and (b) Conforming Amendment.--Section 527 of the Housing Act of 1949 (42 U.S.C.
