How to fill out cervical cancer screening:

01
Make an appointment with your healthcare provider or a clinic that offers cervical cancer screenings.
02
Before the appointment, gather any relevant medical history, such as previous abnormal Pap test results or a family history of cervical cancer.
03
Arrive at the appointment and check-in with the receptionist.
04
When called in, follow the instructions of the healthcare provider or nurse who will be conducting the screening.
05
Typically, the healthcare provider will ask you to undress from the waist down and provide a gown or drape for privacy.
06
You will then be asked to lie down on the examination table with your feet in stirrups.
07
The healthcare provider will use a speculum to gently open the vagina and visualize the cervix.
08
A small brush or spatula may be used to collect cells from the cervix for a Pap test. This involves lightly scraping the surface of the cervix to collect a sample of cells.
09
In some cases, the healthcare provider may also collect a sample of cells for an HPV test, which checks for the presence of high-risk strains of the human papillomavirus.
10
After the samples have been obtained, the speculum will be removed, and you can get dressed. The samples will be sent to a laboratory for analysis.
11
You may be instructed to follow up in a certain time frame to discuss the results of the screening.

03
Women aged 21 to 29 years should have a Pap test every three years.
04
Beginning at age 30, women can choose to extend the screening interval to every five years if a Pap test and HPV test are done together (co-testing).
05
Women aged 65 and older who have had regular screenings in the past may no longer need cervical cancer screenings.
06
Women who have had a total hysterectomy (removal of the cervix and uterus) for reasons unrelated to cervical cancer may not need to undergo screenings. However, this depends on the individual's history and should be discussed with a healthcare provider.
It is important to note that these recommendations may vary based on individual risk factors or specific medical circumstances. Therefore, it is crucial to consult with a healthcare provider regarding the appropriate timing and frequency of cervical cancer screenings.
