Eligibility Who may vote absentee? The Election Protection Coalition (EPC) is a public interest voter protection group. Therefore, we require all registered Washingtonians who live within 2 months of an April 26th primary election, or within the same county as a presidential election, to vote absentee if the primary race appears to be more favorable to a particular candidate. The EPC does not require you to show a preference for one specific candidate over another, or to “preferences” any particular candidate. If a candidate is eliminated from the race, you must still vote absentee unless your vote is for a different candidate. An exception is if you will be out of the county for 1 week or more. See absentee voting instructions above to get more information. How do I know if my registration is changed ? Washington State law (R.C. Sec. 17-107) requires all registered voters to be given at least 30 days notice before they will be updated to the information on the registration books. The EPC has been collecting the correct name of the person who voted in their precinct by using only that individual's first and middle names, date of birth and their current home mailing address. If someone's information was changed in the registration book, our “change of address” service will allow you to check again to make sure you are voting in the correct precinct. (The EPC requires that the voter's new address be printed next to the old address, and it can be done online by clicking on the “Address” link). You may also receive an “Updating registration” notice from the county election office if your address was changed. It's very important that you check your registration, so you are voting in the correct precinct. If anyone is registering in my name for whom do I vote ? If you want to vote in your own name or for someone else for whom you would be voting, you must apply in writing, signed and deigned by your registered voter and mailed to the applicable election authority. You may use this form if you are changing the registration of someone else who is not a family member. You will need to include the following information : their name, date of birth, address where you live and what precinct they would vote in. It is helpful to provide their current address and the name of your mailing address (so you will be able to receive election notices from us).
