SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to the design and construction of an antenna and to the operation of an antenna. The antenna has a top plate which is connected to a bottom plate in the form of an inverted V with the V plate resting on top of the antenna. The antenna consists of a single layer silicon-carbide substrate, a microstructure and conductive elements.
At the top plate and bottom plate of the VJ 3505 the conducting elements are formed in a manner that provides a higher resistance to electrical short circuits than the conductive elements in the top plate and bottom plate. The resistance of the top plate, and consequently the voltage applied to the bottom plate, is inversely proportional to the thickness of the silicon-carbide surface. Because of this, the resistivity of the bottom plate increases as the thickness of the silicon-carbide substrate decreases. The increased resistance of the bottom plate allows for better reception of the mobile phone on the VJ 3505 because the antenna is less susceptible to RF energy.
The microstructures within the top plate and bottom plate also serve to reduce the size of the top plate and bottom plate, while simultaneously reducing the overall height of the antenna.
