This year there will be three field trips. One of the reasons is that many our members will be traveling out of the State during the summer for the National Boy Scout Jamboree that happens in late July or early August. We also have another National Boy Scout Jamboree coming to Georgia in the early fall of 2011, bringing an estimated 80,000 scouts to us. There'll almost certainly be some great activities here but there is also a lot to get done during the visit. We don't want this year to be like last year, where the members are stressed about the itinerary and unable to attend everything that is being offered. If you are interested in making it a reality this year, please let us know your interests in our online volunteer page. We will be sending a questionnaire to our members to find out what the most popular activities will be when the trip is held here. We would very much appreciate getting a commitment to do the following during the upcoming trips: 1. Visit local farms to learn about organic, sustainable farming ways in Georgia; 2. Visit historical and tourist attractions; 3. See the state's beautiful wetlands; 4. Visit the state's numerous art and art installations; and 5. Meet the great folks of Georgia and its wonderful people. We have received a lot of positive feedback from our current members who were able to do just one of the activities outlined. We also got some excellent positive feedback from past members who attended the last trip who wanted to do this year without having to travel outside the state. And we have been asked many times, what is the point of a professional sports team. We would love to show you some of Georgia's best teams. Since the Atlanta Falcons started the Super Bowl Championship game, we have many new members, both active, retired and children, who have recently joined our group. Most of the members are from Atlanta or Cobb County where the team is located. We are so excited about this new chapter that we decided to have a field trip organized for the Falcons' home games. This will include a walk through an Atlanta neighborhood and even a stop at a local stadium and cheer section.
