Body Mass Index is a simple calculation using a person's height and weight. The formula is BMI = kg/m2 where kg is a person's weight in kilograms and m2 is their height in metres squared. A BMI of 25.0 or more is overweight, while the healthy range is 18.5 to 24.9. BMI applies to most adults 18-65 years.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person's weight in kilograms (or pounds) divided by the square of height in meters (or feet). A high BMI can indicate high body fatness.
BMI Chart Find your height on the side (in metres on the left and in feet on the right) and draw a horizontal line across the chart. Find your weight (in kilograms across the bottom of in pounds across the top) and draw a vertical line across the chart. The shaded area where the 2 lines meet is your BMI.
BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)2 The first step, therefore, is to capture this information in commonly used units. This is done in columns B (feet) C (inches) and D (pounds). Then the two values are simply added together to get a total height in meters.
For example, a person who weighs 180 lbs. and is 5 feet and 5 inches tall (65 inches total) would calculate their BMI in the following way: 180 x 703 = 126,540. 126,540 / 65 = 1,946.769.
Formula: weight (lb) / [height (in)]2 x 703 When using English measurements, ounces (oz) and fractions must be changed to decimal values. Then, calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lb) by height in inches (in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703.
