To get the Carer element you will need to report the following information about your caring responsibilities, for example: the name of the person you care for. their date of birth. their National Insurance number. any disability benefits they receive or have applied for. the number of hours a week you spend caring for them.
In the case of carer's allowance, you may not be paid it if you are getting certain other benefits, as benefit rules state that you cannot get paid both at the same time. (This is known as the overlapping benefit rules).
