I thought that I was going to be able to set up a template and convert it to .

User templates file location By default, user templates files are stored in the following location: In Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. In Windows Vista or Windows 7: \Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.

There are two ways to get more Templates within PowerPoint Online: Open the Presentation Gallery and click the See more templates link, highlighted in red within Figure 1. Alternatively, access PowerPoint Online's Backstage View and select the New option, as shown highlighted in blue within Figure 2.
Open PowerPoint, and you'll see a set of standard templates in the gallery. If you're already working in PowerPoint, click File > New from Template to see the templates.
