Questions & answers

Can you tell me about your law enforcement experience? Have you ever held a security clearance before? Have you ever had access to classified or top-secret information before? What do you consider your most important technical skills?
The SF-86 Questionnaire is a 127 page questionnaire-form necessary for national security positions in the United States. Your SF-86 Questionnaire is supposed to proceed through the system as shown below. Ninety percent of all cases are supposed to be completed in approximately 60 days.
Make sure you have the following documents with you during the interview process: A copy of your SF-86. A government–issued photo ID. A personal address book or a list of your contacts. Any relevant documents that may resolve any pending security issues.
What can disqualify you? You are not a U.S. citizen. You were dishonorably discharged from the military. You are currently involved in illegal drug use. You have been judged as mentally incompetent or mentally incapacitated by a mental health professional. You have had a clearance revoked for security reasons.
Civilian, military, and contract personnel seeking sensitive positions in the Federal Government are required to complete the Standard Form 86 (SF86), Questionnaire for National Security Positions, as part of their initial applications and then periodically throughout their careers.
Tips for Filling out Your Employment Activities on the SF-86 List ALL jobs beginning with the present and back 10 full years with no breaks. Do NOT list tentative or future employment. Do not stretch employment dates to fill gaps when you were really unemployed for a month or more.
