For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
USCIS issues written notices in the form of a request for evidence (RFE) to request missing initial or additional evidence from applicants or petitioners who filed for immigration benefits. Initial case review should be thorough.
Technically speaking, an RFE is a written request for more information and documentation that USCIS mails out if they believe that they don't yet have enough evidence to approve or deny a given application.
You will need to respond to the RFE within the timeframe indicated (usually 30 to 90 days, but never longer than 12 weeks) so that the immigration official adjudicating your case will have enough evidence to make a favorable decision.
The notice will explain where to send the evidence and will give the deadline for your response. USCIS will hold your application or petition in suspense during that time. If you receive an RFE and have questions about what you need to submit, you may call USCIS at 1-800-375-5283.
RFE response time in 2019 It is more than 90 days on average due to the high backlog and increased number of RFE being issued by USCIS after Trump's orders. If you get an RFE in standard processing, you can expect to get USCIS response in about 80 days after your RFE submission.
The RFE should indicate an expected timeframe for your response, typically within 30 90 days (but never more than 12 weeks). Your response to the RFE is considered on-time as long as the response is received no later than 3 days after the final deadline.
Once the RFE response is ready to go and filed, USCIS can take up to 60 days to make a decision on the case (or 15 calendar days if you filed through Premium Processing). They can take longer, but we cannot follow up with USCIS until after the response has been pending with their office for more than 60 days.
What Happens Next? When USCIS issues an RFE, the processing of your original application will stop. Once you submit the appropriate paperwork in response to the RFE, you can expect to hear back from USCIS within the next 60 days about their decision or what further action is needed.
