For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Click the Choose GIF Files button to select your GIF files. Keep default options (they do a great job!) or specify advanced options. Click on the Compress GIF button to start compression.
Remove unnecessary images, formatting and macros. Save the file as a recent Word version. Reduce the file size of the images before they are added to the document. If it is still too large, save the file as a PDF.
To reduce the file size, just choose a palette of a few colors and stick to them. You'll get the best results if you only use 2-3 colors. Remember, bright and intense shades of color take up more space, so try using a few neutral colors and maybe a bright one.
Use Winzip. If you are looking for a way to compress your GIFs without losing quality, then we recommend using dedicated software, such as WinZip. Use the built-in compression feature. Reduce the number of colors. Use simple shapes. Use an online GIF compressor.
The GIF format, however, is not as good at compression as JPEG or PNG. The only reason GIFs continue to be so successful is that the format allows animation. Creating a compressed GIF with good detail, then, requires some thought. Most GIFs you see online are either ludicrously large files or horribly compressed.
GIF compressor optimizes GIFs using Gifsicle and Lossy GIF encoder, which implements lossy LZW compression. It can reduce the animated GIF file size by 30%50% at the cost of some dithering/noise. You can adjust the compression level with a simple slider to get the best result for your use case.
