For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
To sign your application electronically, click the "Log in" button on the FAFSA.gov home page to log in, and then click the "Provide Signatures" button. The student (and parent if required) will enter own their FSA ID and click "sign". You and your parent will each create your own FSA ID accounts only once.
Federal law assumes that the parents have the primary responsibility for paying for their children's college education. Parents of a dependent student are required to submit their financial and demographic information on the FAFSA. Parents of an independent student are not required to complete the FAFSA.
The fastest way for you (the parent) to sign your FAFSA is electronically with your own FSA ID. There are two other, slower options to sign the FAFSA: Print a signature page, sign it, and mail it to the address on the page. Your student's application will be processed once your signature is received.
Parent income only affects financial aid for dependent students. For the FAFSA, dependency is based on the federal government's criteria, not whether the parent claimed the student as a dependent on last year's tax return. Parent income does not affect financial aid at all for independent students.
Submit the FAFSA without signatures. Your student's application will be partially processed without signatures, and he or she will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) within 3-5 days. In order for the FAFSA to complete, you'll need to return later to sign electronically.
On paper by printing Signature Page from FAFSA website, www.fafsa.ed.gov. Click on Start Here button to view your FAFSA and print Print Signature Page. Sign your signature page and mail to the address on the signature page.
You can print your SAR by logging into FAFSA.gov with your FSA ID and clicking on the appropriate school year. You can also check the status of your application if you have not yet received your SAR. Once you receive your SAR, make sure all the information is correct!
If you submitted a paper FAFSA form, you can check its status after it has been processed (roughly 710 days from the date mailed). You can also contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center to find out if your FAFSA application was processed.
Once your FAFSA is processed by Federal Student Aid, your SAR is sent to the colleges that you listed on your FAFSA. However, listing a college on your FAFSA is generally not sufficient to receive aid at that college, as most colleges do not create award packages for every applicant who lists the college on a FAFSA.
Access and View FAFSA When you click the Login button on the FAFSA website, you will see the option for signing in to see a previous FAFSA or renewing your FAFSA application for the upcoming academic school year.
What if I forgot my FSA ID username and password? If you have an FSA ID but do not remember your username, click Forgot Username. If you have an FSA ID but do not remember your password, click Forgot Password. Note: The password must be between 8 to 30 characters long.
After you submit your FAFSA, you'll get a Student Aid Report (SAR) within three days if you signed online or three weeks if you mailed a signature page.
The best way to check your FAFSA application status is to log in to your FAFSA account online or by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center's toll-free number: 1-800-433-3243. To check your FAFSA status, you'll need your name, Social Security Number, date of birth, and your FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID).
Understand the Process. Know How Assets Are Counted. Pay Attention to Your Income. Complete the FAFSA and File Your Applications as Soon as Possible. Fill Out the FAFSA Correctly. Appeal the Award. Inform the College if Your Circumstances Change.
For an electronically filed FAFSA® signed online with an FSA ID, you'll receive a link to your Student Aid Report (SAR) in as little as 3 to 5 days. By contrast, paper FAFSA® applications can take up to 3 weeks, so how long it takes really depends on how you've applied.
