Type a Bullet Point If you're using Microsoft Windows, you can type a bullet by holding down the "Alt" key on your keyboard and typing the bullet alt code, which is "0149," on your numeric keypad, on the right side of your keyboard.
Position the insertion point where you want the bullet to appear. Choose Symbol from the Insert menu. Word displays the Symbol dialog box. (See Figure 1.) Use the Font drop-down list to select the font you want to use for the bullet. Double-click on the bullet character you want inserted. Click on Close.
Highlight you bulleted list and right click. Select Adjust List Indents from the pop up menu. Under Follow number with: select Space and hit OK.
Select the bullets in the list by clicking a bullet. Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents. Change the distance of the bullet indent from the margin by clicking the arrows in the Bullet position box, or change the distance between the bullet and the text by clicking the arrows in the Text indent box.
To change the position of the bullets or numbers, drag the first-line indent marker. To change the position of the text, drag the pointed top part of the left indent marker.

Select the lines you want to change, then go to the desired indent marker. In our example, we'll use the hanging indent marker. Click and drag the indent marker as needed. When you're done, the bullet spacing will be adjusted.
Select the text you want to change, then do one of the following: To increase or decrease the left indent of the whole paragraph, on the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Increase List Level or Decrease List Level.
