For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommend the use of BMI to screen for overweight and obesity in children and teens age 2 through 19 years. For children under the age of 2 years old, consult the WHO standards.
A BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight. Anything over 30 is considered obese. Normal BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9.
BMI-for-age is the measure that can be used continuously from age 2 to 20 years to screen for obesity, overweight, or underweight. BMI-for-age is not recommended for use in the United States before 2 years of age to screen for overweight, obesity, or underweight.
BMI-for-age is the only indicator that allows us to plot a measure of weight and height, also referred to as stature, with age on the same chart. The BMI-for-age percentile ranking indicates the relative position of the child's BMI number among children of the same sex and age from the reference population.
Children over age 2, or teens whose BMI is: Between the 5th percentile and less than the 85th percentile are at a healthy weight. In the 85th percentile to less than the 95th percentile are considered overweight. Equal to, or greater than the 95th percentile are considered obese.
The CDC also reports that a 12-year-old girl's weight is usually between 68 and 135 pounds, and the 50th percentile weight for girls is 92 pounds. If your child is in the 50th percentile for weight, it means that out of 100 children their age, 50 may weigh more than they do and the other 50 may weigh less.
A child whose BMI is between the 5th percentile to 85th percentile is in the healthy weight range. A child with a BMI below the 5th percentile is considered underweight. Also, it's important to look at the BMI numbers as a trend instead of focusing on individual numbers.
To calculate an adult's BMI using the metric formula A BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight. Anything over 30 is considered obese. Normal BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. BMI cut-offs for people of South Asian descent are different.
Take your child's weight in pounds. (For example, 37 pounds, 4 ounces becomes 37.25.) Divide that number by 2.2. (So, 37.25 divided by 2.2 equals 16.9 kilograms.). The resulting number is your child's weight in kilograms.
The higher the BMI, the greater the risk of developing additional health problems. A healthy weight is considered to be a BMI of 24 or less. A BMI of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight. A BMI of 30 and above is considered obese.
