Look inside the car, particularly on the driver's side. In the spot where the windshield and dashboard meet, you will see the VIN. It may also be located on a sticker placed on the driver-side doorjamb. You can also get your vehicle identification number by checking your car title.
A VIN (vehicle identification number) is a 17-digit code of letters and numbers that identifies a car uniquely, like car DNA. Each section of the code provides a specific piece of information about the vehicle, including year, make, model, engine size, and the country and factory where the car was made.

The 17 digits in a car's VIN reveal specific information, including the vehicle's year, make, model, country of origin, assembly plant and more. The VIN also enables you to run a CARFAX Vehicle History Report on vehicles sold since the 1981 model year.
This standard applies to vehicles built in or after 1981. Note: VIN's do not include the letters I (i), O (o), Q (q), U (u) or Z (z), or the number 0, so that they will not be confused with similar looking numbers/letters.
