What do you write when you notarize a document?

Where does a notary sign on a document?

In no jurisdiction would it be legal to notarize a document without the signing person present. It is impermissible to notarize the document after the person has signed. Does a document have to be signed in front of a notary?
To get something notarized, you must sign it in the presence of a notary public. The notary must actually watch as you sign the document. So, DO NOT SIGN your document before meeting the notary public. The notary will either refuse your document or require that you sign it again in front of them.
Can you notarize a typed signature?
As long as the signer is personally present before the notary and acknowledges the signature, then the notary can proceed with performing the notarial act. If the document has already been signed, the signer can sign his or her name again above or next to the first signature. You can then proceed with the notarization.
Does a notary signature have to be legible?
The signature of the notary public (which is considered his official signature) should match the one on file with his state commissioning authority. If that signature was legible cursive writing, the notary should not use an unreadable or scribble signature when signing as a notary.
Is it legal to notarize a stamped signature?
