To change the default placeholder text on the control ("Click here to enter text" in the above example) click "Design Mode". To change the Properties of the control, click "Properties". Each control has options that can be accessed by clicking "Properties" with the control you want to modify selected.
On the Developer tab, in the Controls group, click Design Mode. Click the content control where you want to revise the placeholder instructional text. Edit the placeholder text and format it any way you want.
Placeholder text may refer to any of the following: 1. In computer programming, a placeholder is a character, word, or string of characters that temporarily takes the place of the final data. For example, a programmer may know that she needs a certain number of values or variables, but doesn't yet know what to input.
Display the Caption dialog box. (Choose Insert | Caption or Insert | Reference | Caption, depending on your version of Word.) (See Figure 1.) Using the Label drop-down list, choose the label you want to delete. Click on Delete Label. The label is immediately deleted. Click on Cancel to dismiss the Caption dialog box.
Click the shape or text box that you want to add a fill to. To add the same fill to multiple shapes or text boxes, click the first one, and then press and hold SHIFT while you click the others. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click Shape Fill, and then do one of the following:
Open Word 2016. Switch to the File tab on the ribbon and click Options on the left. In the Options dialog box, click Customize Ribbon on the left. Make sure that Main Tabs is selected in the menu on the right below Customize the Ribbon. Check Developer in the last of tabs and then click OK.
