For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
A simple rule for using numbers in writing is that small numbers ranging from one to ten (or one to nine, depending on the style guide) should generally be spelled out. Larger numbers (i.e., above ten) are written as numerals.
Capitalize initials; also, letters in abbreviations if the letters would be capitalized when the words are spelled out. Spell a number that begins a sentence even when other numbers in the sentence are shown in figures. ... Spell (and capitalize) names of small-numbered streets (ten and under). Spell indefinite numbers.
2 Answers. After the number, you do not use a capital. However, in terms of style it is considered untidy to start a sentence with a number. You should either write the number in full or reword your sentence so that it does not begin with that number.
For general writing, most guides agree that you should use words for the numbers one through nine, but for larger numbers the rules vary wildly from style guide to style guide. Some say to use words for the numbers one to one hundred, one to ten, any word that can be written with one or two words, and so on.
1 = one. 2 = two. 3 = three. 4 = four. 5 = five. 6 = six. 7 = seven. 8 = eight.
While it's common [at least for math teachers] to say that “and” must not be used except to separate the integer part from the fraction/decimal part, the usage is “One hundred and thirty-five hundredths” for 100.35, and the “hundredths” is not optional.
The Chicago Manual of Style recommends spelling out the numbers zero through one hundred and using figures thereafter except for whole numbers used in combination with a hundred, a thousand, a hundred thousand, a million, a billion, and beyond (e.g., two hundred; twenty-eight thousand; three hundred thousand; one million).
A simple rule for using numbers in writing is that small numbers ranging from one to ten (or one to nine, depending on the style guide) should generally be spelled out. Larger numbers (i.e., above ten) are written as numerals.
Spelling out a number in a quote. If something is a direct quote, I prefer to spell out numbers as words; but it is okay to use numbers: Robert said, I found 57 pieces of glass on the beach.
Three, 3 and III are all symbols used to express the same number (or the concept of treeless). One could say that the difference between a number and its numerals is like the difference between a person and her name. 2. Spell small numbers out.
