Updated for Swift 5 and iOS 13. With NotificationCenter you can broadcast data from one part of your app to another. It uses the Observer pattern to inform registered observers when a notification comes in, using a central dispatcher called Notification Center.
The Notification Center is organized in chronological order, and users get to the Notification Center by swiping down from the top of the screen. Android devices show unread messages on the lock screen. iOS lets users customize push notifications at an individual app level.
Notifications stay in Notification Center for up to 30 days, after which time they are automatically removed. You can also manually clean up Notification Center by dismissing notifications that you don't need to take further action on.
