The California Department of Public Health Requires California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) or Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPT II) to complete 6 contact hours of continuing education provided by a Department-approved accrediting agency (PDF).
In order to take your Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) exam, the ASAP offers seven routes to eligibility: High school graduation and completion of a phlebotomy program approved by the California Department of Public Health within the past five years.
The National Certified Phlebotomy Technician Exam contains approximately 150 questions. 25 of these questions do not count toward the test taker's overall score. However, the remaining 125 questions do. The exam is also timed.
