Matte paper is the best for getting rich and deep dark tones, making it ideal for black and white photographers. For color photographers, matte paper can make colors look older than a glossy or semi-gloss paper will.
Polar Matte is the most popular paper for art prints. Its smooth surface and bright white tone are ideal to preserve every detail and enhance colors and tones.
According to me all papers can be used for printing photos. Like A4 Photo paper, Matte photo paper and glossy photo paper. Most matte papers can be printed on both sides, but glossy paper is usually coated on only one side making comparable double-sided photo printing impossible.
Gloss Coated paper with a high sheen, typical of what you see for a magazine. Dull Coated paper with a smooth, low-gloss surface. Dull is the middle ground between glossy and matte paper. Matte Coated paper with a non-glossy, flat look. There is little sheen to the paper.
In short, matte prints retain naturalness much better than glossy prints. Minimal Glare Matte art prints do not have a shiny and silky surface like the glossy ones. The surface is rather textured and, yes, dull. Actually, this dullness is another advantage of matte art prints.
Can you print on watercolor paper? Yes is the short answer, but there are quite a few things to take into consideration. Check that your printer can take the paper. Paper over 140 GSM (grams per square meter) often jams in the printer.
Parchment is a good choice for certificates. Index paper is typically used for index cards. Safety paper is used for coupons and checks. Vellum Bristol is often used for door hanger printing.
