Select the cells you wish to modify. Choose the Home tab. In the Cells area, select Format > Format Cells. Select the Protection tab. Uncheck the box for Locked to unlock the cells. Check the box to lock them. Select OK.
To unlock frozen rows and/or columns, go to the View tab, Window group, and click Freeze Panes > Unfreeze Panes.
Select the cells you want to lock. On the Home tab, in the Alignment group, click the small arrow to open the Format Cells popup window. On the Protection tab, select the Locked check box, and then click OK to close the popup.
Save all your work, and then quit all programs. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Security dialog box. Click Task Manager, and then click the Processes tab. Click Winword.exe, and then click End Process. In the Task Manager Warning dialog box, click Yes.
Select the cells which you only allow to change in a worksheet, right click on the selected cells, and then click Format Cells from the right-clicking menu. See screenshot: 2. In the Format Cells dialog box, go to the Protection tab, uncheck the Locked box, and then click the OK button.
To unlock a row: Right-click on row's number and select Unlock Row. (Or, click the lock icon in the row's Lock column.)

To unfreeze panes, open your Excel spreadsheet. Select the View tab from the toolbar at the top of the screen and click on the Freeze Panes button in the Windows group. Then click on the Unfreeze Panes option in the popup menu. Now when you move around in your spreadsheet, columns and rows should display as normal.
You can right click the sheet tab at the bottom, then select the unprotect Sheet from the menu. You can also try other method: click the Review tab on the toolbar then choose Unprotect sheet option. Step 2. It will pop up a Windows asking you to type the password, just enter the password and sheet will be unlocked.
Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Save or Save As if you have previously saved the document. Click Tools. Click General Options. Click the Read-only recommended check box. Click OK. Save the document.
