Changing the Friendly Name of an SSL Certificate You can use friendly names to remind you when a certificate expires, to provide information about who issued the certificate, and to distinguish multiple certificates with the same domain name.
A padlock icon, or lock icon, displayed in a web browser indicates a secure mode where communications between browser and web server are encrypted. This type of connection is designed to prevent anyone from reading or modifying the data you exchange with the website.
Under Personal > Certificates, Right-click on your certificate you are focused on, and select Properties. In the Properties pop up window, under Friendly Name: specify a friendly name of your choosing. Click Ok.
Generally, a green padlock means the website you're viewing is secure but cyber criminals have found ways to get fake security certificates. So, even if a site has a padlock, it still could be a scam. Looking for the padlock should only be one of many other checks you should do (see below for more).
In a data center, a friendly name is a title given to an application file, certificate or other IT asset so that a human being can easily remember the name and perhaps even understand some basic information about the asset's purpose.
Open the Certificates (Local Computer) snap-in you added, and select Personal > Certificates. The Subject field of the certificate lists the Common Name (CN), click here for additional information about the Common Name. Right-click on the desired certificate and select Properties.

A friendly name is something a human can easily read and remember instead of a code or a numeric address/identifier. An example would be a host's name as opposed to it sip address, or a process name as opposed to its CLSID.
Log in to your Name.com account. Click the green My Products button. If you have multiple products, click on SSL certificates. Then click on the SSL certificate you need. Next to Certificates Have Been Issued, click Show Certificates. Copy the text under Server Certificate.
