Manage DOCX Files without MS Word for Free

I know I'm going to get a lot of emails from you all about how exactly it is you're supposed to save files into Word Microsoft Word doc or Microsoft Word docx if you do not have the program of Microsoft Office well it's actually very easy to rename a file now I can't show you what it's like on a Mac or on another um word processing program because I only have Microsoft Office but what I'm going to do is I'm going to show you how to rename a file um so first let's create a file so pretend like this is the beginning of our pap process here um we're setting up Times New Roman 12o font for MLA format um double checking that we have double spacing um and then we're going to insert page numbers at the top of the page um of course our our last name we're going to go ahead and students put our heading in the proper places which is your name then my name the course and section number and the date of submission so and of course we're going to set enter our original title and go back to that course paragraph blah blah blah blah blah blah blah okay so what you have is you have your file and it's time for the paper to be due so it is time to save it now the only acceptable files that can be uploaded into the program on canvas are Doc and Doc X Files which is Microsoft Office Word um and the reason for that is because there's a speed grader and it works best with those two file formats if you give me a PDF or an RTF or something it's going to be it's just difficult to grade so we're going to go ahead and save all files as word docs so what you want to do is you hit file and you want to hit save as and always when you're doing it you want to figure out where exactly your file is going to be located so you don't forget so I like to put mine on my hard drive under documents um always put your name so you put your last name here and then I put paper number one now it says save as type you can see that in there save as type here and you have all of these options you have PDF XS uh web page Ricks which we want to do more documents you just save it as Word document and then you hit save and then when you X out of there you will be able to find your F and that's it
