Open the 7-Zip File Manager. Click on the file you want to compress then click Add. The Add to Archive window will pop up, make sure the Archive format is set to zip, and click OK to proceed. The file will be compressed into a zip file located in the same place as the original file.
For you to be able to put a password on a zipped folder, you'll need to use a third-party program that runs on Windows 10 that will allow you to protect individual files and folders with a password. Search for Archive Manager and open it. Drag and drop the file(s) you want to compress into a zip file. Select Create Archive option here. In here, choose the type of compressed file. It will be. Zip in my case.
Choose the location where you want to place the protected zip and then click on the 'Compression' button. The Set default compression options window will be displayed. Under General tab click on 'Set password' and enter your password. Complete the validation process and save your work.
