If you're planning on any kind of remote monitoring or emergency response features, many local governments require you to have an alarm permit.

Do I need a permit for ring alarm?

No, permit requirements only apply to professionally monitored Ring Alarm devices. At this time, the Ring Video Doorbell and Ring Cams are not monitored products.
