Why is Outlook indexing taking so long?
If the number to be indexed is decreasing, the Outlook client is still under searching. To do this, exit Outlook and go to Control Panel > Indexing Options > Advanced. Under Index Settings tab, click Rebuild. Besides, if the PST files are corrupted, the indexing will also take a long time or get stuck.
How long does it take to rebuild indexing?
As Indexing takes a long time, allow Outlook to rebuild the Indexing for about 12 to 24 hours and verify the result after about 24 hours.
How do I stop Outlook from indexing?
Turn Off Outlook Search Indexing So, open Outlook, then click File Options. In the Options page, click the Search tab on the left and then click on the blue highlighted Indexing Options button. Next, you'll see a similar menu to before, but you'll now see Microsoft Outlook in the list.
What does indexing mean in Outlook?
Defined in computing terms, an index is essentially a structure or table that improves the speed of data retrieval. Indexes are used to quickly locate data without having to search through every single item stored on a drive or network every time someone needs to access that data.
Can I use Outlook while index is rebuilding?
Rebuild Outlook Search Index. Go to File > Options and select Search in the left pane. Do note that while the index is being rebuilt searches probably won't work, so just wait until the process completes. The amount of time it takes to complete varies depending on the number of emails, file size, and processing power.
