Great customer service. My Employer needed a form off their website, and he had signed up for the subscription, the following month his credit card **** was almost a thousand dollars- so, myself, the office manager, I knew my boss only needed the one form he went on the website for, I went on the site,started talking to a live help agent, (very nice and helpful) I explained the situation, was asked basic information, and was told within 5 to 7 days the refund would be back to my boss's institution. As a matter of style, most journals advise authors not to start any sentence with an abbreviation or a number. However, acronyms are generally acceptable in that position, either because they are words in their own right (such as laser and radar) or represent names of organizations (such as NASA and CERN).
The first time you use an abbreviation in the text, present both the spelled-out version and the short form. When the spelled-out version first appears in the narrative of the sentence, put the abbreviation in parentheses after it: Example: We studied attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children.
Introducing acronyms Introduce every acronym before using it in the text. The first time you use the term, put the acronym in parentheses after the full term. Thereafter, you can stick to using the acronym.
United States and U.S. In APA style, United States should always be spelled out when it is used as a noun or location. Example: In the United States, 67% reported this experience. United States can be abbreviated as U.S. when it is used as an adjective.
In APA Style, a term should not be abbreviated unless it appears three or more times after its first mention in a paper (APA Publication Manual, 4.22, p. 107); once a term is abbreviated, the abbreviation must be used consistently thereafter.
Since you should never begin a sentence with a numeral, you should first try to reword the sentence. If you find it unwieldy to reorder your words, spell out the number: ... Normally you shouldn't mix words and numerals, but you can make an exception to avoid having a number at the start of a sentence.
It's fine to use a number to begin a sentence, but some formal style guides advise that you should write the number out in words. If you are writing an academic essay, for example, it might be better to rephrase it altogether as it's a bit awkward to write out 'sixty-three point nine percent'.
Some style books now allow sentences to start with a year in numeral form. 2012 is a year of unusual weather patterns. Others advise you to flip the sentence, so this does not occur.
When a number begins a sentence, that number should always be spelled out. That said, writers often choose to restructure their sentences when the numbers become cumbersome for the reader. 5 finalists will qualify for the next round of the competition.
Quotation Marks in Parenthetical Statement. When identifying an acronym, I have always simply placed that acronym or abbreviation in parentheses following the phrase. For example: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
