What is the difference between character and glyph?
A character is the symbol representing a letter. A glyph is the specific shape, design, or representation of a character. The character a can be represented by many glyphs set in different typefaces. In addition, more than one glyph can represent one character in the same font.
How do you add special characters to a PDF?
Using the Type tool, click to place the insertion point where you want to enter a character. Choose Type > Glyphs to display the Glyphs panel. To display a different set of characters in the Glyphs panel, do any of the following: Select a different font and type style, if available.
