What kind of business license do I need to sell crafts?
States require a business license. The state business development office will tell you the costs and provide the application form. Many states have the forms online. You pay for the license with a credit card. The license is required even if you're a sole proprietor creating crafts on a part-time basis.
Do I need a seller permit selling at craft fairs?
In almost all instances you will need a license in order to sell at craft fairs and shows. Although the procedure may differ slightly from state to state, in most states you can apply for a state sales tax license online at the state government website, or you can pick up an application at your local county office.
Do you need a business license to sell crafts in Washington?
Yes, you need to become a business to sell handmade crafts. Thus, you first, select your business structure: Sole Proprietor, Partnership, LLC or Corporation. Then, a sellers permit is required to buy your craft materials wholesale and sell retail if you sell handmade crafts merchandise wholesale or retail.
Do you need a license to sell homemade items?
Most crafts are not made from food, but craters often sell homemade food items with their crafts. Technically, a food handler's certificate or license is required. Most county, or state, health departments require any food to be made in a kitchen that has passed a health and safety inspection.
