Error in my ways! I was unaware that I had used the service in the past which voided out my free trail. I then subscribed again and was instantly billed for a full year. ' It provides a baseline from which a better approach can be developed, allowing continuous improvement methods to leverage learning. Three necessary components in standard work are (1) take time, (2) cycle time and (3) SHIP (Standard Work-in-Progress).
Standard work is a combination of methods, tools and documents. Standard work can be embedded in the company's operation through the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). An SOP is a document that describes the best way to execute a process and its activities to maintain consistent working practices.
All jobs are organized around human motion to create an efficient sequence without waste. Work organized in such a way is called standard(sized) work. The three elements that make up standard work are take time, working sequence and standard in-process stock (see individual listings).
Standardized Work Instructions (SKI) are instructions designed to ensure that processes are consistent, timely and repeatable. Often the SKI are printed and posted near the operator's work station. The idea is that team leaders and managers should follow up if the operators uses and can use the instruction.
Step 1 Working Lean — Focus and prioritize. Step 2 Develop the best-known way of working. Step 3: Visualize the standard. Step 4 Train everyone to the new standard. Step 5: Scheduled follow-up. Step 6: Introduce a process for improvement.
