How do you save a text file as a Word document?
Click File, click Open, select the text file, and then click Open. If you don't see the file, select All Files or Text Documents from the pull-down menu above the Open button. Click File, and then click Save As. In the menu next to Save As Type, select Microsoft Word 2007/2010/2013 XML (.
How do I open a TXT file in Word?
Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Open.
In the File of type list, click OpenDocument Text.

How do I save a text file?
Another way to create a text file is to right-click on your desktop screen and in the menu that appears, click New and then click Text Document. How do you save a .TXT file without the extension?
The other Windows method, assuming it's a TXT/RTF/doc/etc. file, is to open in notepad. In the Save As dialog, change 'Save as Type' to 'All Files'. This will allow you to save without an extension.
